The Damson Press

The Damson Press is based in the North West of England. Named for the gleaming complex fruit that flourishes here, it aims to create printed spaces for poets of a similar flavour.
In themed pamphlets, poets winkle out the niggling, intriguing aspects of their particular fascination. Their cycles of poems may be linked by fancy or thesis and be serious, sardonic, elegiac or even ecstatic. Like the fruit: flexible, alluring, jam or chutney.
Although we'd like to support poets far and wide, our focus is regional — think Cumbria, Lancashire, Westmorland. Cheshire maybe. Our team is tiny so we don't accept unsolicited submissions. Rather we invite organisers of poetry groups and workshops etc. to give us a nudge.
If we read or hear work which draws us in, we will take the initiative ourselves. The door is always ajar though, and we know that poets from the north west are as persistent as the damson tree on the windy fell. So don't give up.
PS The Damson Press is a labour of love, unfunded, and not for profit. Our greatest financial aim is to break even. We dream big.
